What Sayari does well

Sayari's strength is supplier network mapping. Its flagship Graph product traces ownership relationships and corporate connections across 250+ jurisdictions, surfacing the non-obvious links — XPCC subsidiaries, parent-company exposure, transhipment routes — that surface-level vendor data misses. Sayari Map adds batch supplier screening and AI-driven product blueprints on top of that graph. Sayari's data is used across the public sector, including federal agencies focused on trade and forced-labor enforcement. If you're trying to understand the deep network behind a supplier, Sayari is doing real work.

What Sayari depends on as input

Like any screening platform, Sayari is only as useful as the data going in. A typical importer feeding Sayari is bringing:

  • A supplier list — names, often in inconsistent formats, sometimes with name-translation issues for Chinese counterparties
  • Some notion of which products come from which suppliers, often without HTS codes attached or with HTS codes assigned years ago and never revisited
  • Country-of-origin fields that are partial or stale
  • A backlog of catalog items that have never been screened against the current UFLPA Entity List, BIS Entity List, or FDA Import Alert universe

That last point is where most importers feel the pain. The Entity List grew meaningfully through 2024 and 2025, and most catalogs haven't been re-screened against the additions. Sayari's deep-network analysis runs against whatever you push in — so if your catalog is noisy, the alerts coming back are noisy too. Analyst hours that should be spent on real ownership questions get burned re-classifying SKUs and fixing supplier-name mismatches in a screening tool.

How ImportPreflight feeds Sayari

ImportPreflight pre-screens your product catalog against the UFLPA Entity List, UFLPA priority sectors, BIS Entity List, and FDA Import Alerts before you push the supplier and product data into Sayari. The result: Sayari's deeper network analysis runs against catalog data that's already been triaged for the obvious flags.

Concretely, every line in your catalog comes back with an HTS classification (against the USITC dataset), a UFLPA priority-sector tag where applicable, an Entity List match flag, an FDA Import Alert hit if the product chapter and origin country combination triggers one, and a HOLD / REVIEW / CAUTION / CLEAR action recommendation. Your analyst team's time goes into the harder cases that Sayari is genuinely best at — the ownership tracing, the sub-tier work, the XPCC affiliations — instead of the easy ones that should never have made it into the queue.

When you'd use both, and when you might not

If you're a larger importer or a brand with deep upstream supplier networks: use both. Sayari's network mapping does work that ImportPreflight isn't trying to replace. ImportPreflight handles the upstream pre-screening at the catalog and line level; Sayari handles the deeper analytical work on the supplier side. The two are complements.

If you're a smaller importer evaluating Sayari primarily for UFLPA Entity List screening and forced-labor flag-checks: ImportPreflight may handle that function adequately and at lower cost. If what you actually need is deep ownership-network tracing on your suppliers, Sayari is the right tool and we won't pretend otherwise.

Bottom line

ImportPreflight isn't trying to replace Sayari. We do the upstream pre-screening that Sayari doesn't focus on. If you're already on Sayari, add ImportPreflight to clean up your inputs so Sayari's network analysis runs against a triaged catalog instead of a noisy one. If you're evaluating Sayari and discovering that what you really need is line-level UFLPA, BIS, and FDA Import Alert pre-screening before customs filing, ImportPreflight is the lighter-weight first pass — and you can always add Sayari later for the deep work.
